You need to know what you’d like your site to accomplish. Common goals are to sell, inform, entertain, let customers know where you’re located, and encourage visitors to contact you. How much will it cost?

Like buying a new car the cost of your site depends on what your needs are. Factors include many things including how many images are you want on the site, do you need an online shopping cart, do you need software so you can update the site yourself, and do you want animation.

Do you use templates?

Designing and building your web site is a bit like purchasing a new building for a business. A unique custom design can attract visitors and make you stand out from the competition. While creating custom web sites is what we love to do, we recognize that not everyone needs or can afford one. I’d like some animation or Flash on my site. Do you do this?

Sure do!  While animation isn’t appropriate for every site we do think it’s a great tool for communicating a message or holding your visitor's attention a bit longer.

Will my new site be listed on the search engines?

There are a variety of things we’ll do to optimize your pages so that they are “search engine friendly” and more likely to appear on the first page or two of a web search. That said, every search engine has its own policy regarding what sites get in their databases and how they are ranked. For search indexes like Yahoo, you can pay to be quickly added to their database. For Google and others we can only submit your site and the rest is up to them.

In the long run Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the most cost effective way to get your site seen. Still, there are several online advertising programs that can help bring new customers to your site quickly. We’ve used these programs ourselves and we’d be happy to help you get started with them.

How do I get a web address?
